Now that I’ve reached 25, I need to stay lookin’ 25!
A lot of signs of aging are sped up with sun damage. And with our ozone layer having as many holes as a colander, we need to make sure we’re protecting our skin.
It’s important to know that you should be putting on sunscreen all throughout the year. Yup, even during winter. If you’ve gone skiing and caught a nice sensitive red sunburn on the tip of your nose and cheeks, you know how important it is to protect your skin.
Here are five face sunscreens that you need to try.
1. Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF 50+ PA++++ by Beauty of Joseon
I’ve raved about this one before, but I can’t help it! It’s always a smooth application and it’s my all-around favourite pick. It wears really well under makeup and doesn’t leave a white cast. It’s moisturizing from the rice and grain extracts, and I love how it feels more like a moisturizer than sunscreen. Extra points for the cute packaging!

2. UV Super Moisture Essence by Skin Aqua
I actually picked this up from my trip to Japan last year and almost cried at my mistake for not bringing back more than two. It’s not sticky or tacky, it doesn’t dry up and pill. It’s a chemical sunscreen, and it’s really moisturizing and lightweight. I don’t see a white cast when I have it on and I find that it gives a healthy glow to my skin.

3. Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-On Shield SPF 50 by colorescience
Most of my favourites are chemical sunscreens, but this is a mineral sunscreen that I want to have with me at all times. It comes as a powder that you can easily brush on your face. It’s great to reapply during the day without a cream or serum to disturb your makeup look.

4. Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen by Round Lab
Another reliable favourite! A chemical sunscreen that won’t leave a white cast. This one has a gel-like consistency that will leave your skin feeling hydrated and soothed. It has birch juice and hyaluronic acid and other hydrating ingredient like aloe vera and eggplant amp.

5. Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel by Isntree
Of all the sunscreens on this list, I’d say this one feels the most like a sunscreen. It has 8 different types of hyaluronic acid to keep your skin feeling hydrated, making it great for dry skin types. It doesn’t turn your makeup clumpy and leaves your skin with a glow instead of a white cast.

Bonus: Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 by Dr. Jart+
Try applying this before your makeup as a primer. It has SPF 30 and will neutralize your redness with its green tint. And no, you won’t end up looking like an ogre from Far Far Away.

Extra points if you layer your SPFs! Apply your favourite face sunscreen, followed by the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 as a primer, and top off your makeup with the colorescience Brush-On Shield.
And there you go, five sunscreens for you to test out this summer. Give them a try and don’t forget to reapply every two hours!
