Winning an Instagram giveaway always feels like hitting the jackpot, and my dinner at Mollie Bar was exactly that: an absolute jackpot.
121 Avenue Duluth Est
Montreal, QC
H2W 1H2
This hotspot in the Plateau has it all: amazing food, the friendliest staff (truly the nicest), a unique mix of modern and vintage decor with touches like a glass chess set, vintage chandeliers, and a classic wooden piano.
From Sunday evening to Tuesday, Mollie Bar becomes La Cantina, offering authentic Mexican cuisine, while from Wednesday to Saturday, they switch back to their regular menu featuring French and American favourites. And in the summertime, their terrace is perfect for outdoor dining, complete with a DJ.
I went on a Thursday night over Halloween season, and the whole space was decorated with really fun pumpkins, spooky webs, and eerie lights.
So here’s everything I hit the jackpot with at Mollie Bar.
The Cocktails

Espresso Martini and Lychee Ardent
1. Espresso Martini ☕️
Yes, the espresso martini might be the basic drink that everyone seems to be sipping and posting about all over social media these days. But let me tell you, this one was the best espresso martini I’ve ever had! The perfect balance of coffee and alcohol. Seriously, if you’re an espresso martini fan, you won’t want to miss Mollie’s!
2. Lychee Ardent 🫖
An alcoholic hot tea drink? I love tea (both the warm beverage and the gossip) and I also enjoy a good drink, so I knew I had to try the Lychee Ardent. It was my very first warm alcoholic drink ever, and I have to say, this tasty mix of Soho, vodka, black tea, hibiscus, and lime was so refreshing and so unique.
The Small Plates

Beef Tartare

Grilled Octopus
1. Beef Tartare 🍞
I love a good beef tartare, and this one did not disappoint. The tartare was perfectly seasoned, bursting with tangy flavours that paired beautifully with the most delicious, crunchy bread chips. Definitely something I’d come back for again!
2. Grilled Octopus 🐙
This was probably my favourite thing I ate at Mollie! The grilled octopus was served with a red pepper coulis, herb salad, and caramelized lime. And unlike some octopus that can be way too chewy, this this one was charred to perfection and melted in my mouth like butter. Mwah! Chef’s kiss!
The Main Plates

Bison Burger and Flank Steak
1. Bison Burger 🍔
The bison burger is exactly how I imagine a bougie Krabby Patty to be. The juicy bison patty is piled high with caramelized onions, creamy goat cheese, lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes. And we can’t forget their homemade mayonnaise and those crispy-on-the-outside-and-soft-on-the-inside fries.
2. Flank Steak 🥩
The flank steak is served with their signature fries and a fresh salad, cooked to a perfect, juicy medium-rare (or however you like your steak). It comes with the most delicious mushroom gravy on the side, which kind of reminded me of a good old Filipino burger steak. My mouth is salivating just thinking about that plate again!
The Desserts

Chocolate Lava Cake and Salted Caramel Ice Cream
1. Lava Cake 🍫
By this time, I was so, so full… but there’s always room for dessert! As a chocolate lover, the chef recommended I try the lava cake, and this one was truly like no other. You can really taste the rich cocoa in every bite. So decadent! Nothing like the frozen ones you find at the grocery store.
Plus, the chef even added a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side, drizzled with the most delicious salted caramel sauce and a sprinkle of crumble. Dee-licious!
The Verdict
Without a doubt: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Mollie Bar is a hidden gem that completely exceeded my expectations, and I’ll most definitely be back (way more times than I can count!).
