It’s a new year and maybe your resolution is to take your other half out for more exciting date nights.
I love a good dinner date, don’t get me wrong. But if you’re like me, you’re also making an effort to spend your money a little more mindfully this year.
Here are 7 ideas for your next date night that won’t break the bank (and that don’t involve dinner).
1. Go ceramic painting
There’s nothing better than painting a cute mug to have your daily morning coffee.
Bonus: you get a keepsake that actually reminds you of the date!

2. Relax with colouring books
Choose a cozy background video on Youtube, make some hot cocoa and go wild on the markers.
It’s low-pressure, relaxing, and surprisingly therapeutic.

3. Build a Lego set
This is only an affordable date night if you’re not choosing to build the Millennium Falcon or the Eiffel Tower. Extra points if you’re finally building a set that that’s been sitting untouched for months (or years).
I know you have one collecting dust in the corner of that room…

4. Go coffee shop hopping
Pick a couple of nearby coffee shops and rate them on vibes, drinks, and overall coziness.
You don’t even need to buy a full drink at every stop. Half the fun is the walk in between.

5. Go on a bookstore date
Set a timer and pick out a book for the other.
Keep it under a budget and choose something you genuinely think the other person would enjoy.

6. Have a themed movie marathon
Dim the lights, grab the popcorn and commit to a theme.
A night of 2000s movies would be my pick, starting with She’s the Man obviously.

7. Have a board game night
IF COMPETITIVE, PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION. You’ve been warned.

Remember: date nights don’t have to be expensive to feel intentional. Sometimes the simplest plans are the most memorable!
