Embarking on a trip down memory lane has never been easier, thanks to the classics waiting to be rediscovered on Disney+. In this edition of “What We’re Watching Right Now,” join Kristina and Alisa as they revisit the golden era of the Disney Channel, indulging in the familiar laughter, life lessons, and lovable characters that defined their childhoods.
What Kristina is Watching on Disney+ Right Now: Raven’s Home
If you grew up watching the Disney Channel after school like me, watching That’s So Raven was probably a cherished part of your childhood. The show followed the hilarious and relatable adventures of Raven Baxter, a teenager with a unique psychic ability that often got her into hilarious and unpredictable situations. Well, fast forward to today, and I’m excited to share what I’ve been watching on Disney+ right now: Raven’s Home, a a heartwarming spin-off of the beloved That’s So Raven.
The show brings back our favourite psychic fashionista, Raven Baxter, portrayed by the incredibly talented Raven-Symoné. As the story unfolds, we find Raven as a divorced mother of two, living in Chicago with her best friend, Chelsea Grayson. Both Raven and Chelsea are navigating life post-divorce and have found solace in sharing an apartment in the Windy City, along with their kids: Raven’s twins, Nia and Booker, and Chelsea’s son, Levi. While the kids embrace the challenges of growing up, they soon find out a shocking secret: Booker has inherited his mother’s unique psychic abilities.
As someone who grew up watching That’s So Raven, Raven’s Home brings up nostalgia while also offering a fresh perspective on the characters and their lives. It’s the perfect show to enjoy with your family, whether you’re introducing your kids to the world of Raven or simply reliving your own childhood. And Disney+ makes it easier than ever to revisit our favourite Disney Channel classics.
So, if you haven’t already, queue up Raven’s Home on Disney+ and prepare for a laughter-filled trip down memory lane with a modern twist. You won’t be disappointed!
What Alisa is Watching on Disney+ Right Now: Boy Meets World
If you grew up in the 2010’s, you might be familiar with Girl Meets World, a comedy series following a young tween facing the challenges that come with life. For the slightly older generation, we grew up with Cory Matthews, Shawn Hunter and, my personal favourite, Topanga Lawrence.
The show focuses on Cory, a young boy in middle school, going through the lessons of life. He learns from his friends, family and notably from his principal, Mr. Feeny, played by William Daniels, who lives next door.
Who can forget Topanga’s iconic performance painting herself as the sun? Or should I say “Donut in the Sky”. Topanga will always be one of my favourite characters to grow up with. She radiated self-confidence and spoke wise words for a 12 year old. To this day I still ask myself, “Why do you care so much what other people think?” while picturing a lipstick covered Topanga.
So don’t forget to add Boy Meets World to your Watchlist on Disney+! Find out where all the Girl Meets World inside jokes come from, learn about how iconic Minkus is, and enjoy the nostalgia.
The cozy season is upon us and this calls for a mug filled with hot chocolate, fluffy blankets, and lots of binge watching!
