After living with a boy for a couple years, I learned how important “me time” is. It helps you reset and refocus, and makes sure you don’t completely merge into a “we” like Marshall and Lily did.
So here are 6 way to embrace your solo time. Because doing things alone doesn’t mean you have to feel lonely.
1. Visit a café
This is one of my favourites. It feels so intentional, because you’re not there to work on your laptop or meet someone for business.
You can feed your inner child and bring a colouring book, your journal, or that book you’ve been putting off reading.

2. Make your own ring
What a creative way to show yourself some love! Your ring will be a sweet reminder of your self-love, and I love that for you.

3. Attend a cooking class
What feels more like a warm hug than a home-cooked meal? Even if you’re a kitchen disaster, it’s a great way to learn something new or get some culinary inspiration. I’d love to learn how to make fresh pasta!

4. Go to the spa
Spas aren’t just for couples. I go solo more often than not and I love that for me. Plan your relaxation and book that massage! I know that hunched back of yours is aching.
Pro tip!
Check if your health insurance covers massages (by a licensed massage therapist of course).

5. Wander a bookstore
There’s nothing like finding new books to add to your “To Be Read” list. Maybe take one (or a few) home with you!

6. Take yourself out for dinner
You’ll know you’ve conquered alone time when you go to dinner by yourself. Why wait around for someone to take you out when you can try that spot you saved on your own time
This is one of my favourite ways to spend time with myself.

Doing things alone doesn’t have to feel lonely. Sometimes, a little solo time can be a chance to slow down, recharge, or simply do something for yourself.
And every now and then, that’s exactly what you need!
