I don’t know about you but I sure felt like Phineas and Ferb this summer.
Between late night plans, birthday parties, concerts and, oh yeah, wedding planning, I never ran out of things to do.
Summer always seems to fly by, so before we trade our iced matcha lattes for steaming cups of hot cocoa, here’s a little look at what kept me busy this summer.
1. I went to a lot of night markets
I’ve been indulging in filling my tummy with delicious street food.
I was putting off trying new restaurants because of how quickly the cost of a meal can climb, so the night markets have been the perfect opportunity. Montreal’s night markets are host to so many little gems, and you bet I was full by the end of it!

2. I’ve been wedding planning
I’ve been engaged for a year now (!!!) and so I’m in the thick of planning. Venues are secured, menus are being finalized, and I’m looking at dresses. I’m trying not to get caught up daydreaming!
3. I hosted a Pilates birthday party
I decided to bring back good ol’ birthday parties and invited my friends to a Pilates class for my birthday. I ran with the “pink Pilates princess” theme and made loot bags for everyone who came.
I was a little nervous making everyone workout on my birthday… But honestly, we’ll use any reason just to get together!

4. I took a road trip to see Bruno Mars
Thankfully we didn’t go very far from home. Just us 5 girls and my fiancé, but he’s honestly one of the girlies…
The sold-out show caused our little group to be split up throughout our section. We thought we’d be alright. We were thankful that we could, at the very least, be at the show. But boy were we wrong! We all found ourselves seeking each other out in the crowd. By luck, we managed to find each other and sang our hearts out all night.

5. I got to see the WNBA in Montreal
If you know me, I’m a huge fan of the WNBA. So as a Montrealer, I couldn’t believe there were going to be not 1, but 2 games held in Montreal.
You bet I got my tickets to see Canada’s new team, the Toronto Tempo, play against two of my favourite teams. Their match up against the Dallas Wings set a new WNBA all-time attendance record.
That just goes to show that they need to come back next year…

6. I spent some quality time with my sister
…that didn’t revolve (too much) around the blog.
With both of us having completely different schedules, it’s tough finding time to meet up without having to discuss our plans for The Lilac. Our little summer break gave us some breathing room to do just that!
It was nice to have our sister time be just that for a change.

7. I participated in the Hunger Games
Okay, so obviously it wasn’t actually the Hunger Games. It was just a bunch of twenty-somethings playing childhood gym class games: capture the flag, tug-o-war, balloon toss…
It brought back memories and muscles that I haven’t used in a while…

Summer went by way too quickly, but looking back at everything, I think I made the most of it.
From late night outings to huge, sold-out concerts, I got to spend time with the people I love. I’m sad to see summer go too soon, but I’m ready to pull out my knit sweaters and bury myself in blankets this fall!
