If there’s one thing Montreal doesn’t lack, it’s amazing places to shop secondhand.
There are so many great thrift stores, vintage shops, consignment boutiques, and clothing exchanges around the city. So much so that it was SO hard for me to narrow down my favourites!
There’s just something really fun about looking through racks and never knowing what you’re going to find. You might walk in looking for one thing and leave with something completely unexpected.
So here are 8 of my favourite secondhand shops in Montreal.
1. Turquoise’s Treasures
68 Rue Rachel Est
Montreal, QC
H2W 1C6
Turquoise’s Treasures always seems to have the cutest vintage dresses (along with plenty of other vintage clothing and treasures, of course!).
I mean, just look at this beautiful wine and black floral dress! How perfect would this be for a glamorous Halloween witch costume, or even a masquerade ball?
They also do lots of fun vintage pop-ups, so definitely follow their pop-up page to make sure you don’t miss the next one!
2. Marché Floh
4301 Rue Saint-Denis
Montreal, QC
H2J 2K9
Marché Floh is 1000% where all the cool kids in high school would’ve shopped.
It has such a fun, eclectic feel inside, with racks and racks and racks of vintage pieces, from the coolest statement bomber jackets to Carhartt, Dickies, vintage Levi’s, and so much more.
I could easily spend way too much time looking through everything here. And now that they have their new sister store, Chez Floh, for vintage home decor, I can only imagine how much time I’d spend there too!
3. Friperie Secondli
1556 Avenue du Mont-Royal Est
Montreal, QC
H2J 1Z2
Friperie Secondli is a great one to add to your secondhand shopping rotation if you love a good mix of vintage and more current pieces.
They have everything from everyday basics to cool streetwear, with plenty of different styles to dig through. And I especially love that they keep things local by sourcing all their pieces from the Montreal community.
It’s the kind of shop where you have to give yourself some time to look through the racks, because you just never know what you’re going to find. It’s almost like a little treasure hunt every time I walk in!
4. Seconde
5274 Boulevard Saint-Laurent
Montreal, QC
H2T 1S1
If you love curated vintage and local designer pieces, definitely check out Seconde on the Main.
They have the most beautiful, unique finds that feel like they could walk straight off a runway and into your closet, without the full-price designer tag.
And I have to mention the gorgeous blue couch inside. After seeing it, I immediately knew I wanted a big blue couch in my future house!
5. Boutique Popeline
263 Avenue du Mont-Royal Est
Montreal, Quebec
H2T 1P6
I discovered Boutique Popeline while walking along the Plateau with my sister after lunch, and the window display was so cute that we had to go inside!
The boutique is so beautifully arranged, with a great selection of quality secondhand clothing and accessories from top notch brands like Sézane, GANNI, ba&sh, Maje, and Sandro. I might just have to go back for an early birthday present for myself!
6. Le Magasin du Chaînon
4461 Boulevard Saint-Laurent
Montreal, QC
H2W 1Z8
Le Magasin du Chaînon is one of those places where I can go in looking for clothes, and end up leaving with something completely different (like a cute lamp, or yet another serving platter).
Along with (the cutest!) secondhand clothing and accessories, you can find books, furniture, home decor, kitchenware, and all kinds of little treasures.
But what makes shopping here even better is that your purchase supports Le Chaînon, an organization that provides shelter and support to women experiencing vulnerability.
7. Friperie Spice Daddy
294 Chemin du Bord-du-Lac-Lakeshore
Pointe-Claire, QC
H9S 4L3
Next time you’re out in the West Island, take a stroll through the Pointe-Claire Village, grab some food or ice cream (or both!), and then be sure to pop into Friperie Spice Daddy.
You’ll find all kinds of unique 80s, 90s, and Y2K finds (including vintage Patagonia!), hats, belts, and more. It’s almost impossible not to grab something interesting.
Oh, and if you can do a cartwheel, you even get a free gift!
8. Shwap Club
5027 Rue Wellington
Verdun, Quebec
H4C 1Y1
Okay, this one’s technically not a thrift store. But I had to include Shwap Club, because I’ve had so much fun going here since I discovered it this summer!
It’s a clothing exchange club where you bring in pieces from your own closet that you no longer wear or no longer fit, and if they’re accepted, you get credits to pick out something new to you. It’s such a fun and sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe!
I’ve found SO many great pieces here that I wear all the time now. I might just have to write another blog post to show you everything I’ve found!
Secondhand shopping is such a fun and sustainable way to find something new to you. And so, I hope this inspires you to check out a few of these spots for yourself.
If you have a favourite secondhand shop in Montreal that I missed, let me know in the comments! Maybe I’ll write a part 2!
